Hi, I’m Xyan (zi-on), the lead photographer behind Shots by Xyan. Born and raised in Jamaica and now based in South Florida, I’ve been capturing love, laughter, and life through my lens since 2016, and every session still feels like the first spark. Specializing in weddings, portraits, and events, my goal is simple: to tell your story with authenticity, emotion, and intention. I believe great photography is more than just beautiful images, it’s about preserving memories that feel as real years from now as they did in the moment.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me strumming my guitar, singing with my kids, or spending quality time with my amazing wife. I’m a devoted husband and proud father, and that love for family fuels the passion I bring to every shoot. For me, this work is deeply personal — and that’s exactly how I treat your moments, too.
Why I do this
Photography has always been more than just taking pictures for me, it’s about capturing emotion, connection, and the little in-between moments that tell the real story. I love knowing that the images I create will become keepsakes families look back on for generations. Every wedding, every laugh, and every tear reminds me why I started doing this in the first place — to turn genuine moments into lifelong memories.
How I work
My goal is to create an experience that feels easy, natural, and true to you. I take time to connect with my couples before ever picking up the camera, so when your big day arrives, it feels like we’re already friends. I mix guided direction with candid storytelling, allowing you to relax and be fully present while I capture the moments that matter most — the real, raw, and beautiful.
Fun Facts about me
I’m a bit of a tech geek at heart! The go-to “IT guy” at home for anything that needs fixing or figuring out. When I’m not editing, shooting, strumming or singing, I love diving into video games or unwinding with a good horror movie (bonus points if it actually scares me). I’m big on laughter, late-night creative ideas, and finding inspiration in everyday moments.
